What is DeSoto Dining and Dialogue?
DeSoto Dining and Dialogue is a non-profit organizations bringing DeSoto citizens from various cultural backgrounds together over dinner for the purpose of encouraging communication across-cultural and age groups.
 
When are the dinner events held?
The dinners are held three times a year, on Saturday evenings during February, May and September.
 
• Where are the dinner events held?
Dinners involving 8 to 10 people are held simultaneously throughout DeSoto in private homes, churches, or restaurants at the descretion of the host. The dinners start at 6:00 p.m. and end at around 9:30 p.m. Registered participants are assigned a dinner location once hosts are identified.
 
• Who should attend?
Anyone who lives or works in DeSoto and is interested in thought-provoking group discussion about diversity and community is welcome to register for DeSoto Dining and Dialogue. To balance the tables, we need both males and females of all ethnicities and ages. High school students attending can receive community service hours.
 
• How can I participate?
You can participate by agreeing to be a HOST, a GUEST , or a FACILITATOR.
 
• What do you need to bring?
Participants need only bring an open mind and a willingness to share ideas and experiences. Trained Facilitators will provide structure to the evening and use techniques designed to minimize debate and maximize sharing and understanding. Hosts provide the meal in their home at their expense.  The meal is free to all guests.
